And Jesus is the Word. . .

Absolutely true Stacy - It is not really possible to know God apart from His Word.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the

Word was God."

Jesus Christ the Word made flesh. We can't possibly know God until we know the Savior. But of course, I understand the concept in Psalm 119 is referring to His written word, the Holy Scripture, the statutes, law, decrees, and precepts. However, the play on "word" just couldn't be ignored!! Jane

  1. ** WARNING, The following is Stacy's opinion **
So with that, how can we possible know God without being in real Bible Study? How many church members (me included for so many years) are fooling themselves into thinking that going to Church and listening to others, praying (for who knows what)and just saying they are Christians truly know what God is telling them. I think so many place to much emphasis on Church attendance and Prayer (that only deals with our ability to communicate in one direction - Us to God) without allowing God to speak to us through His Word. I also think that any think a lot of their "feelings" are from the Holy Spirit but never have it backed up with the word of God as validation. I say all of this to say that I feel that apart from God's Word, we cannot truly understand what God is trying to teach us.

  2. Total agreement. God's word is our plumb line. The psalmist speaks truth "I seek you with all my heart, do not let me stray from your commands."(119:10) The seeking is tied to finding in God's word (His commands). In seeking to know God and understand what He is teaching us we must go to His Word. Which leads me to a subject that has often bothered me - what about all the people groups and tribes around the world that do not have the scriptures? Are they doomed to not know God? My heart says no. And that is where I believe Jesus became the Word, for all people, regardless if they have the Holy Bible translated into their tongue. All can know God through His son, the word made flesh. WARNING: Jane's opinion. :) Would love any insight and instruction on this topic.
